Annual Election Period
Oct 15 - Dec 7
You can add or change a Medicare Advantage Plan, Part D Prescription Drug Plan or change to Original Medicare. Your coverage will be effective Jan 1
Open Enrollment Period
Jan 1 - Mar 31
If you are on a Medicare Advantage Plan, you can make one change to your coverage and it will be effective the first of the next month.
Initial Coverage Election Period
A 7-month window starting 3 months before you turn 65 and extending 3 months after you turn 65 to first enroll into Medicare
Special Election Period
You may be able to make a change to your Medicare Advantage Plan when certain events happen in your life or if you are enrolling into a 5-Star Plan. There are specific rules that apply to these additional life situations.
